Prep

31 07 2007

Well I guess I’ll do what everyone seems to do when they start a travel blog and that is talk about the prep. So yea, yesterday I went to Chicago to get my visa and plane ticket. Yea, i really should have looked more at the directions before I went because I didn’t know the name of the travel agency that I wanted to go to and I didn’t know what building the Japanese consulate was in. The Japanese consulate was actually in the same building as Niemen Marcus. I had to ask someone at an information desk. When I went into the visa office I saw these super nerdy white girls and guy come in. Typical anime nerds. Overly smiley/dopey looking and talking obnoxiously loud. I was so pissed and i was really hoping that they weren’t for some reason going to Temple. So yea I only dropped off the visa stuff and I had to go back today. But I’ll get to that later.

Afterwards I had to go to the mac store to use the internet and look on my email to find out where the travel agency was. I actually was right about where it was at but I didn’t go with my gut and just walked passed the building. So I went back there and went up to the 21st floor where the agency was supposed to be. It was the most unimpressive place ever. It was 2 rooms, it didn’t have a sign on the door, and it just had 4 people at desks in it. I guess they don’t have many people actually come in. Oh well. The place actually had a ticket for like 730 bucks through united airlines but I already had my heart set on JAL so I payed like 950 instead owned. JAL has the best seats and the best food and if Im gonna ride on a plane for 13 hours then Im gonna do it in the most comfortable possible plane I can have. So I leave August 19th at 12:45 and get to Japan August 20th at 3:45. Yea I GUESS Im pumped.

Today I took the train back to Chicago to pick up my visa. I really shouldn’t have worn my birkenstock clogs again because my feet were sorta blistered yesterday. They were bleeding today… I walked with my shoes off for around a mile and wore down the callus on the bottom of my feet. It was the top of my toes that were bleeding. After I got my visa I went into Niemen Marcus and got those small nylon socks that chicks wear when they try on new shoes. It worked pretty good but eventually my toes hurt again but it was still much more bearable. So thats about it. I guess next thing Ill talk about is my to do list or something.
